Since 1873, in the hills above Beirut, Brummana High School (BHS) has been educating young people within the Quaker ethos. The school acts as a beacon of hope in a region torn by strife and sectarianism. BHS welcomes students of all faiths and opinions, from all backgrounds, and prepares young people to work together for a better country and more peaceful future.

The Quaker International Educational Trust (QuIET) owns BHS buildings and land and is responsible for the advancement of education in accordance with the values of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers).

For the last 150 years Quakers have supported ‘our’ school in Lebanon though famine, wars, invasion, and in recent times, COVID, the Beirut port explosion and the collapse of the Lebanese lira. Through it all, BHS has survived as a leading and dynamic educational force in the country serving the needs of its 1,200+ pupils and their families.

We are looking for a new Treasurer to join QuIET as a trustee in June 2024. We seek an individual who has experience of charity finance and investment and is involved with Quakers.

QuIET seeks to make the Board of Trustees as diverse as possible in terms of age, ethnicity and social background.

Trustees are expected to attend two meetings a year, one of which will be in Lebanon (when the situation permits), and be available for QuIET business between meetings. Expenses incurred in the service of QuIET are reimbursed.
